Dailekh district is located in the hilly region of mid-western Nepal. The district, with Dailekh as its district headquarters, covers an area of 1,502 km² and has a population of 261,770 (2011 census). Dailekh district borders Kalikot to the north, Jajarkot to the west, Surkhet to the south and Achham to the west. The majority of the people belong to the Brahmin and Chettri ethnic groups, but there are minorities such as Newar, Magar, Tharu, Sunaar, and Kaami. Places worth visiting are Mahabugadh, Satkhamba, Dullu, Kritikhamba, DhaukhaniKave, Lalikanda Cave, Dhaulapada Cave, DulluPauwa and BhairabKunda.
